What is an infographic? If you don't know, go look it up. Read about it and then in your own words tell me what an infographic is. What do infographics do? How do they work? What makes a really good infographic?

A infographic is a visual image that is used to represent information or data. Infographics show information in a visual way. They work by just showing a bunch of information but in a visual way. What makes a good infographic is focused data and a clear design.

Tell me about your Homecoming weekend! If you didn't participate in the Homecoming festivities, what did you do? Share pics!

I did not go to Homecoming. On Friday since we got out early I went and hung out with my friend and then went to work, Coaches was packed since it was Friday and the Royals game, and then all the BV coaches came in. Then on Saturday I hung out with my friend and worked some more. Sunday we celebrated my brothers birthday and my grandparents and uncle came over and we just had a nice dinner and my brother opened his presents.

Imagine Mr. Bacon has asked you to suggest one way of improving Blue Valley High School to make it a better place for students. Think about the changes that are needed at your school. Pick one change you feel would really make a difference and explain what it is and why you'd make the change.

If Mr. Bacon asked me one way to make this school a better place it would be to make the school lunches better, the lunches right now are really bad and are too expensive to buy extras, when the meals here don't even come close to filling you up. I would make this change because basically everyone agrees the school lunches taste terrible and are too expensive. I would suggest lowering the prices so people can have more food and wont be so hungry and change the meals a little bit.

What is email? When do you use email in your own personal life? List reasons and ways that people use email. What do you know about "email etiquette"?

Email is a way to communicate over the internet, its kind of like sending mail except its online. I only use email to check work schedules, other than that I never use email. Reasons people use email and ways they use it is in my opinion mostly for work reasons, my dad uses email all the time to contact people for work. I don't know anything about email etiquette.

Now that you've been in Emerging Technology for several weeks... what do you think? Do you think the web tools (Drive, Evernote, Bubbl, etc.) are helpful to you? Do you think they will be helpful throughout high school or even college? Explain.

Emerging technology is a fun class and helped me learn a lot about useful things on technology like Evernote, Google Docs, and Blogger. Yes, these tools are really helpful. Google docs are especially helpful because you can be writing an essay or something and you didn't finish in class and you can just go to your computer without any flash drives or anything and finish it at home. Yes, i think these tools will be helpful all throughout high school, Evernote will really hope keeping track of all your sources and Bubbl. will help organize a essay you want to write.

Do you enjoy writing? When do you enjoy it? What kind of writing do you enjoy? Why do you think the ability to write is so important no matter what kind of writing it is? Give an example that you enjoyed writing or hated writing. Why?

I don't really enjoy writing. I especially don't enjoy writing for ELA and writing long essays, those are too long and boring in my opinion. I think the ability to write is important because you need to know how to write a lot when you grow up especially for jobs. An example of a time I enjoyed writing was last year in ELA. I was writing a argumentative essay about marijuana legalization, i enjoyed this so much because I was into the topic and it interested me a lot.

Reflect on this quote. Give an example of a time in your life that this might have been the case.

This quote means that if you don't prepare well enough for something you know you need to prepare for then you aren't preparing. An example where this quote has happened in my life is last year in math I would never prepare for tests, assignments, or anything in that class. I knew I wasn't preparing well enough and it would show on my tests and my grade. Doing this I was just preparing to fail that class and every test.

What did you do this weekend? Share pictures if you have them!

This weekend I worked a lot. That is mostly what I did this weekend. On Friday after school I went straight to work and it was pretty chill until around 10 and all the BV football coaches came in to eat, Mr. Jost, Brown, Driscall, and all the other coaches were all there. Then on Saturday I hung out with my friend and then worked again and since it was Saturday night it was packed. On Sunday I worked in the morning and worked until around 5 and then after that I hung out with my friend again.

What is the importance of research? Why do you need to know how to research? What have you learned in high school about researching topics and finding quality resources? Have you had a helpful teacher that has taught you to research? Explain.

The importance of research is so that you can find out certain information about a subject and to find facts about the subject. You need to know how to research so you can find out facts and important information about a certain subject, if you didnt know how to research you may find unreliable sources or you may not be able to find the right facts that you want. I have learned that you need to make sure the website you use for research is a quality resource and not to use wikipedia. Ms. Edwards has taught me about research and she has put up Libguides with quality sources on it.

Global Issue Selection

For my global issue in Emerging Technology I have chosen marijuana legalization. I have begun researching the issue and you can find my research questions here

September 10, 2014

The kids these days dont work as hard as we did as kids. They have all these phones and electronics that can do almost anything for them, when I was a kid we didnt have any of those. The kids these days are always on their phones and never go outside and play outside like we did as kids.

Tell me about the global issue you selected. What do you already know about the issue? What are you looking forward to learning about it? Explain.

The global issue I picked is Marijuana Legalization. I picked this topic because I don't think marijuana should be illegal, it can have many benefits. I know that marijuana is harmless to you, unlike tobacco and alcohol. I also know that the US is spending billions of dollars on trying to prevent marijuana from being used, if it was legalized the US would be saving tons of money and even getting money from taxes. Also keeping marijuana illegal causes more crimes, like drug dealers, gangs, and other violent crimes. I am looking forward to learn about why marijuana is illegal in the US when Colorado and other states are doing fine with it legal and are even getting lots more money.

Yesterday I asked your to "think differently" and push yourself to be uncommon with your PSA project using Google Slides. Why do you think I asked you to do that? What is the point? Why not just use bullets and headers? Explain.

I think you asked us to think differently because you didn't want us to make a boring presentation. The point of thinking differently is so that we wont make a presentation that would be almost the same as every one else. Using bullet points and headers makes the presentation boring and long, no one wants to just sit around and listen to a presentation filled with bullet points, if you think differently and push your self then you will make the presentation more interesting instead of just bullet points.

Tell me all about your Labor Day weekend. What did you do? Include photos!

Over Labor Day weekend I didn't do that much. All I did was work and then just hangout with some friends. On Friday I worked right after school until about 10 at night and that was really tiring. On Saturday I hung out with my friend and saw a movie, the movie wasn't very good though. Then on Sunday I hung out with my friend again and just hung out and went to the pool. Finally on Monday I just stayed home and watched Netflix basically all day, it was really boring.
